Chinese automotive manufacturer Leapmotor is expanding its footprint in the European market with the introduction of their latest hybrid SUV model. The company unveiled the C10 EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle) at the Brussels auto show, marking a significant step in their international growth strategy.
Impressive Performance Specifications
The C10 EREV showcases remarkable capabilities with a WLTP range exceeding 950 kilometers and minimal environmental impact, producing CO₂ emissions of just 10g/km. The vehicle's powertrain features a robust 215-horsepower electric motor delivering 320 Nm of torque. Its versatile charging system accommodates both DC and AC charging options, complemented by an on-board fuel generator.
European Market Strategy
Following the successful launch of their all-electric C10 variant in September 2024, Leapmotor has established a strong presence across 13 European countries. The company has developed an extensive network of over 400 sales outlets, with plans to expand to 500 locations by the end of 2025. European deliveries of the C10 EREV are scheduled to commence in March 2025.
Strategic Partnership with Stellantis
The expansion is supported by a significant partnership with European automotive giant Stellantis, which invested 1.5 billion euros for a 20% stake in Leapmotor. This collaboration led to the formation of Leapmotor International, a joint venture headquartered in Amsterdam, which leverages Stellantis' established distribution networks to enhance their international market presence.
Growing Success in the Automotive Sector
Since its founding in 2015, Leapmotor has demonstrated impressive growth in the automotive sector. The company's portfolio includes diverse models such as the T03, C01, C10, C11, and C16, offering both BEV and EREV variants. Their success is reflected in their 2024 delivery figures, reaching 293,724 vehicles - a remarkable 103.76% increase compared to the previous year.
Future Prospects
Leapmotor's expansion plans include the introduction of several new models in international markets over the next three years. This strategic rollout, combined with their growing sales network and strong partnership with Stellantis, positions the company for sustained growth in the European automotive market.
