Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer XPeng is accelerating its expansion into the European market, recently announcing its entry into Spain and Portugal. The company has introduced its electric SUV models, the G6 and G9, as well as the sedan P7, to these new markets. This move follows XPeng's initial European launch in Norway in 2020, with subsequent rollouts in Germany, France, and the United Kingdom.
Collaboration with Salvador Caetano Group
To facilitate its growth in Spain and Portugal, XPeng has partnered with the Salvador Caetano Group, the largest automotive dealership network on the Iberian Peninsula. In Spain, the company is establishing a network of sales and service centers across 10 cities, including Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, and Málaga. In Portugal, XPeng has opened two sales locations in Lisbon and Porto, with plans to expand to 15 dealerships by the end of 2025.
G6, G9, and P7 Models: Specs and Pricing
The XPeng G9 SUV boasts an impressive output of 405 kW (551 horsepower), all-wheel drive, and a range of 570 km (WLTP). In Germany, it is available starting at €59,600, approximately 1.5 million CZK.
The XPeng G6 comes in three variants. The base model, RWD Standard Range, offers 190 kW (258 horsepower) and a range of 435 km, priced from €43,600 (around 1.1 million CZK). The RWD Long Range variant delivers 210 kW (286 horsepower) with a range of 570 km, starting at €47,600 (1.2 million CZK). The top-tier AWD Performance model features 350 kW (476 horsepower) and a range of 550 km, with prices beginning at €51,600 (1.3 million CZK).
The luxury sedan XPeng P7 offers a range of up to 700 km (WLTP) and is priced from €49,600, or just under 1.3 million CZK.
XPeng's European Ambitions
By rapidly expanding across Europe, XPeng aims to compete with established brands like Tesla. With the P7 often compared to the Tesla Model 3 and featuring advanced autonomous driving technology known as XPilot, XPeng seeks to attract customers through both competitive pricing and innovative features.
The company has already made significant inroads in countries like Norway, Germany, and France. In Spain, the response has been overwhelmingly positive; during the launch day in Madrid, there were 650 test drive bookings for XPeng models.
XPeng's expansion in Europe shows no signs of slowing down, and further market entries are anticipated in the near future. Could the Czech Republic be next on their roadmap?
