MG Motor to Build Plant and Research Center in Mexico
MG Motor, owned by the Chinese company SAIC, has announced plans to build a new factory and research center in Mexico. This move is part of MG Motor's broader strategy to expand its presence in Latin America and the Caribbean. The new facility will enable the company not only to manufacture vehicles but also to gather market-specific insights for the region. According to MG Mexico's Director, Zhang Wei, this investment will support the company's growth and expansion in these areas.
MG Motor is not the only manufacturer considering investments in Mexico. In March of this year, BYD announced that it is considering building an electric vehicle manufacturing plant in the state of Jalisco. MG Motor also plans to enter the Mexican market with its sister brand, IM Motors.
MG Motor's investment in new manufacturing capacities in Latin America comes after several other significant announcements by the company, including plans to build its first electric vehicle factory in Europe, specifically in Spain.
