Honda Reduces Gasoline Car Production
The Japanese automaker Honda has announced plans to cut its gasoline vehicle production capacity in China by 290,000 units. This decision is part of a broader strategy aimed at increasing the share of electric vehicles in the company's overall portfolio.
New Electric Vehicle Factories
Honda is set to commence production at two new electric vehicle factories. The first factory is expected to start operations in September, followed by the second one in November this year. These new manufacturing capacities mark a significant step forward for Honda as it strives to keep pace with the growing global trend towards electromobility.
Xiaomi Expands Its Activities
Apart from Honda, tech giant Xiaomi is also actively engaging in the Chinese electric vehicle market. The company recently acquired new land in Beijing, where it plans to build the second phase of its electric vehicle factory. The first phase of this factory already boasts an annual capacity of 150,000 units.
Second Phase of Xiaomi's Factory
The second phase of Xiaomi's factory will have the same annual capacity as the first phase, amounting to 150,000 units. This move indicates that Xiaomi has ambitious plans in the field of electromobility and aims to become a significant player in this rapidly growing market.
The Future of Electromobility in China
With these new investments from Honda and Xiaomi, the Chinese electric vehicle market is becoming increasingly competitive. It is expected that these initiatives will help accelerate the transition to greener transportation not only in China but globally as well.
