Utilizing EV Batteries
The smaller battery pack in the Ioniq 5 has a capacity of 58 kWh, while the larger version offers 84 kWh. For comparison, each of my Tesla Powerwall v2 units has a capacity of 7.5 kWh, totaling 15 kWh of storage space. With this capacity, I can power my entire house for 6-8 hours, or even longer if I turn off the air conditioning and oven to conserve energy.
Using your electric vehicle as a power source for your home requires additional wiring costs, but it is definitely worth it in case of prolonged power outages. A backup generator also helps. However, even if you only have an electric vehicle, you are still in a very good situation.
Safety of Electric Vehicles
A new video shows a three-car accident involving a Tesla Cybertruck, Tesla Model 3, and a Toyota minivan. Surprisingly, the Model 3 emerged relatively unscathed compared to the Cybertruck and Toyota minivan.
This event highlights the high durability and safety of Tesla vehicle construction, which is an important factor when choosing an electric vehicle not only for its environmental benefits but also for passenger safety.
The Future of Electromobility
With increasing battery capacities and advanced technologies, electric vehicles are becoming more attractive not only as means of transportation but also as multifunctional devices for households. For example, Hyundai plans to equip the Ioniq 5 model with a larger battery, more power, and even a rear wiper by 2025, which are welcome improvements.
